We have up to a dozen in attendance at our meetings which take the form of a PowerPoint presentation on a particular topic, with plenty of opportunity for members to contribute to the discussion throughout.

We do not follow a specific syllabus, but much of the content is sourced through Open University material recently been studied by the group convenor.

For our first theme, we discussed the various schools of thought within the discipline including:

Biological Psychology

Behaviourism

Cognitive psychology

Social psychology

Psychoanalysis and Psychodynamics

Humanism and Existentialism.

We then examined the psychology of the 7 deadly sins - Pride, Greed, Lust, Envy, Gluttony, Wrath and Sloth.

In January we started a three month block on Philosophy
introducing the 7 traditional branches of Metaphysics, Epistemology, Ethics, Logic, Aesthetics, Political Philosophy and Philosophy of the mind.

Following maintained interest by members, this topic will be continued for a further three month period.

No previous study in the field is required

PLEASE NOTE: If you wish to attend a group meeting then we recommend that you contact the group convenor beforehand to check whether there are any changes to time or venue
