What we offer

The u3a Movement

We are a local organisation that provides opportunities for our members to pursue any subjects or activities which they find interesting.

At 10.30 on the last Friday of each month we hold a general meeting in Llanyrafon Methodist Church, Cwmbran.

We are always happy to see new faces at our meetings, so why not come along and meet some friendly and interesting people.

You will be under no obligation to join our u3a, but you would be made very welcome should you decide to do so.

Each month, at our general meeting, we have a guest speaker to give us a talk on a subject of interest.

We have a number of interest groups which have been set up, and are run, by our members. Anyone can begin a new group at anytime if they have an interest in a particular topic or activity.

Find out more by clickingon "Groups" at the top of the page.

On the first day of each month our members receive an illustrated newsletter, which is produced from contributions sent in by our active groups and individual members.

NOTE: It is possible to download or print a copy of this newsletter.

We are one of a number of independent u3as that make up a UK-wide network whose parent body is the Third Age Trust (TAT). Across the UK there are over 1,000 u3as with more than 450,000 members.

The u3a movement provides opportunities, both local and national, for its members to enjoy a wide range of interests and activities. Local members have complete freedom to choose those that they wish to pursue.

Torfaen u3a has been part of this UK-wide movement since 2009. We are also a member of the South Wales Network of u3as.

Find out more by clicking on "TAT" at the top of the page.
